Daniel Robert Zerphey's Obituary
Daniel Robert Zerphey went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. He was 56.
He was born on August 19, 1957 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Robert Zerphey of Arnold, Maryland, and the late Mary Trujillo Zerphey.
He graduated from Severna Park High School with the class of 1975. He later graduated from The University of Baltimore with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He was a Certified Public Accountant and served as the chief financial officer for United Van Lines, Lab Products, and Bio Medics – Maryland Plastics.
He was married to Theresa Jackson on September 18, 2004. He had a heart to serve his community and was a member of Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg where he served on the finance committee. He was the treasurer of Caroline Habitat for Humanity. He led the youth group and bible study at the First Church of God in Federalsburg. Dan enjoyed golfing, puzzles, and was an avid reader. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Zerphey of Bridgeville, DE, four children, Melissa Gilbert of Federalsburg, William Gilbert, III and his wife Amanda of Laurel, MD, Henry Clay Porter, III and his wife Ana, of Capital Heights, MD, and Andrew Zerphey of Arnold, MD; his father, Robert Zerphey of Arnold, MD; one sister, Debbie Gates and her husband Bob of Wyoming; and six grandchildren; Kaitlin Fairbanks, Gabriel Porter, Hazel Porter, Abigail Trice, Miley Trice, and Izabelle Porter.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Park Lane Church of God, 209 Park Lane in Federalsburg at 1:00 with the Bishop Ray Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the church.
