Edward Sherman Collins' Obituary
Edward Sherman Collins formerly of Preston, Maryland passed away peacefully at Bayleigh Chase in Easton on Sunday, June 14, 2026. He was 80 years old.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 15, 1946, Ed was the son of the late Roger M. and Emma Sherman Collins. He grew up in the Baltimore area and graduated from Towson High School. Ed had roots on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and later moved to Preston to take over his grandparents' farm.
In 1980 Ed married the former Ruth "Beckie" Baker at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church. Together they continued the farm and raised their family. For thirty-four years Beckie and Ed owned and operated Ed Collins' Greenhouse. He retired in 2015. In addition to the farm, Ed also worked the water and had his commercial fisherman's license. After retirement from the greenhouse, Ed kept busy as a driving instructor at Shane's Driving School. He attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
Left to mourn Ed's passing are his wife Beckie; his daughters Cathy Heinsohn (Adam) and Carol Holt (Dustin); his grandchildren Molly, Mark, Claire, and Chason Heinsohn, and Emma and Sadie Holt; his brothers Charles and Roger Collins, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ed in death were his parents Roger and Emma Collins; and his brother Ray Collins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church starting at Noon. The family will receive relatives and friends during a public visitation at the church for one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow in Junior Order Cemetery.
