Edward Webster Eskridge's Obituary
Edward Webster Eskridge, known fondly as “Webby” passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. He was 67.
He was born August 26, 1946 in Salisbury, MD, the son of the late John Martin, Jr. and Joan Ann Crawford Eskridge.
He was a graduate of North Dorchester High School class of 1964. He served his country during the Vietnam Era serving in the United States Navy. After his military service he came home to work for E.I. DuPont in Seaford and worked there until his retirement with over 30 years of faithful service. He was also an agricultural farmer and worked at Wings Landing Farm in Preston. From an early age, he loved the game of baseball and cheered on his favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles and Earl Weaver being his favorite player. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to go hunting and fishing with his family and was known as a “hands on guy”. Webby also loved Nascar and the Baltimore Ravens. He was the former president of Little League for Caroline County, a member of the Caroline County Farm Bureau, and a member of Wheatley’s United Methodist Church in Galestown.
Webby was a hard working man who will always be known as someone who was dedicated to his responsibilities which included his devotion as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Connie Quidas Eskridge, two children, Mark Wayne Eskridge and his wife, Cathy of Hurlock, Wendi Sue Eskridge of Preston, four granddaughters, Kathleen Eskridge (Zach), Kristine Eskridge, Amber Eicholtz (Mike), and Jackie Baker, three great grandchildren, Chance Carr, Eriann Carr, and Alyssa Thompson, a brother, John M. Eskridge, III (Gail) of West Virginia, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Quidas of Preston, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James A. Eskridge.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. David Heistand officiating. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
