Edward Murn, III's Obituary
Mr. Edward Joseph Murn, III of Saint Michaels, Maryland passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton, Maryland. He was a month shy of 86 years old.
Born in Baltimore on December 28, 1938, Ed was the youngest son of the late Edward Joseph Murn, Jr. and the late Julia (Moylan) Murn. He was educated by the Jesuits in Towson/Baltimore both at Loyola Blakefield High School and then Loyola College. In college Ed was in the ROTC program and fulfilled his service in the Army. He was a standout basketball player during his high school and college years and Ed was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Loyola Blakefield. He even continued to play while he was active duty with the Army.
On September 14, 1963, Ed married the love of his life, Leah E. DiPaula, at St. John's Catholic Church in Frederick, MD. They enjoyed 61 beautiful and incredible years together. They started their married life in Mt. Airy, MD, where they started their family. They spent a good portion of their life raising their four sons in Ellicott City, MD. Ed had a successful career in the residential mortgage business, where he was president of MNC Mortgage. After retirement, he and Leah then moved to Saint Michaels, MD where he enjoyed time with family and friends.
Ed was a beloved husband, father and Pop Pop. He is survived by his wife Leah; his sons Edward J. Murn, IV (Caroline), Thomas H. Murn, Harry J. Murn (Neile), and Christopher N. Murn (Melissa). He is also survived by nine grandchildren Tyler, Ryan, Grace, Keegan, Colin, Leah, Brady, Dylan and Taylor; and a niece Kathy Drake.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Jack Murn and Thomas Murn; and his niece Julie Smith.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the St. Michael Mission Church, 109 Lincoln Ave., Saint Michaels, Maryland. A visitation will take place the night before on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4pm until 6pm at Framptom Funeral Home - Ostrowski Chapel, 312 S. Talbot Street, Saint Michaels, Maryland. Burial will take place privately with the family at a later date.
