Gloria Joy Lee's Obituary
Gloria Joy (Cooper) Lee went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, 05 January 2014 at North Arundel Health & Rehabilitation Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She was seventy years old.
Gloria is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Robert Jerome Lee and her two children Marcelle and James, along with five grandsons, Patrick, Dane, Aidan, William, and Hunter. She is also survived by her sister Elaine (Cooper) Bycroft and her husband Richard, their children, John and Claire, and four great-nieces and nephews, all of England. Additionally, she is survived by two stepchildren, Patrice Scott and Michael Lee, and their children, all of whom she loved as her own.
Born on 03 July 1943, in Bloemfontein, South Africa, the daughter of the late James Henry Cooper and Marcelle Yvonne (Puckle) Cooper, Gloria was primarily raised in England. The diplomatic career of her father, a Royal Air Force officer, stationed at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C., brought Gloria to America, where she met her future husband. Her adopted country later became her own when she became a naturalized U.S. citizen.
A long-time resident of Choptank, Gloria described herself as a homemaker; however, she was also very active outside the home, working at the Caroline County Soil Conservation District, Easton Memorial Hospital, and later becoming a real estate agent, eventually progressing to operating her own brokerage, headquartered in Preston.
Gloria was known for her both her cooking and sewing abilities. Although she could sew almost anything, from floating swimming pools to duffel bags, she was especially known for dresses, such as formal gowns and wedding dresses. Gloria was also a bird fancier, who had a particular love for owls. She loved the water, and enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the changing seasons reflected in the Choptank River
