James "Spry" Cheezum's Obituary
James “Spry†Cheezum Neavitt, James Newnam “Spry†Cheezum of Neavitt, died at his home on Monday May 2, 2016. He was 68. Born in Easton, on June 4, 1947 he was the son of the late Robert G. and Cornelia “Neil†Newmam Cheezum. Spry graduated from St. Michaels High School, he then worked for a brief time in construction. In 1976 he began a career with the St. Michaels Dept. of Public works until retiring in 2004 as Town Engineer. Spry loved the outdoors, during the 1970’s he played on the Broad Creek Soft Ball team in the Tidewater League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most especially golfing with his friends at Harbouretown. Spry is survived by his wife; Donna Hershey Cheezum of Neavitt, a sister; Cheryl Kelley (Donald) of Sherwood, two son’s; Daniel Andrews of Princess Anne, and Christopher Andrews (Jen) of Preston, two grandchildren; Landen, and Owen Andrews, two nieces; Kimberli Cheezum Vaccari of Easton, and Kim Crouch Ozman (Michael) of McDaniel, two nephews Kevin Kelley of Claiborne, and Ryan Crouch ((Carlie) of McDaniel, and many Great nieces and nephews. Also survived by his Mother in Law Eileen Grau of St. Michaels, two sister in laws Linda Cheezum of Easton, Debbie Starkey (Ralph) of Centreville, MD. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a bother; Robert G. Cheezum, Jr. and a nephew; Darren Cheezum. A viewing will be held at the Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. 312 S. Talbot Street St. Michaels, on Friday May 6, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Talbot County Humane Society 7894 Ocean Gateway P.O.
