James Walter Truitt, Jr.'s Obituary
James W. Truitt died peacefully at his home on November 30, 2025. He was 93 years old. Jim was a well-known and beloved member of the Federalsburg community where he lived his whole life. He was owner/pharmacist at Cantner's Drug Store in Federalsburg for 60 years and a member of the Maryland Pharmacy Board. In addition, he was a member of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company which he served as chief for 3 years.Jim had talents and interests that he shared with friends and family. His children and grandchildren have fond memories of times spent with him in the woods and the rivers of the Eastern Shore. He shared his love of nature with others in the community as a leader of Boy Scout Troop 137.Jim was an artist- a painter of landscapes and portraits. His portrait of Judge Marvin Smith hangs in the Caroline Country Court House.Jim is survived by his wife, June; his sister Elizabeth "Kibby" Richardson; his three children, nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13 at Union United Methodist Church on Main Street in Federalsburg. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and the service at 11:00. A reception will follow at the Federalsburg Fire House.In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make contributions in Jim's memory may do so to Union United Methodist Church (301 N.
