Dear Mautz Family,I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Mautz passing. I worked for him for several years enjoying his humor, stories of the past, Tomato sandwich, Sunflower Pictures (for which I still have to this day) and his passion for Dentistry. I can tell you that it has been difficult to find someone to work for that as high values, ethics, and integrity as Dr. Mautz demanded. My last communication with him was about his joy of Fly-fishing and wanting to do more in his retirement. My heart is crying that he is gone but I know that Heaven has gained one more great person. I only saw "Doc" when I came into town from Albuquerque, NM 2 or 3 times per year. He always had a smile and kind words. I can remember thinking how nice it was that C Street was an extension of your home. "Doc" is the type of person one thinks of when the expression is said "that the world is a better place because they were in it"! That sums up "Doc" and therefore makes the loss so much greater! I want to thank Doc and the outstanding Mautz family for being an important part of my life. Spending time on the Eastern Shore over the holidays to hunt and be part of the Mautz family will always be a fond memory as I grew up. Doc and Aunt Diana treated me as if I was one of there own and I loved spending time with the family. I'll always remember Doc's extremely early duck call wake up calls, not something ever to forget. Then the energy Doc had in the early hours making sure the silhouettes were placed properly and before dawn broke. Although I cannot attend the celebration of Doc's life, my prayers, love and remembrance of wonderful times with Doc and the Mautz family are being sent north from Florida.. Although I only met John and Diane a few times, I was a good friend of John's sister, Margaret. Margaret loved her brother John and always had a great story to share about him. He was a great presence in the family and will be greatly missed. I hope the wonderful memories of John will comfort you in the difficult days ahead.
