John Loren McCullough, Jr.'s Obituary
John Loren McCullough Jr. was born to John McCullough Sr. and Nancy
Hancock on December 18, 1967. John was hardworking, loving, and
genuine. He was always quick to help those who needed him, and was
never afraid to tell people what they needed to hear. He graduated cum
laude with a business management degree from Methodist College as an
NCAA champion in golf; later being inducted to the Methodist hall of
fame. He went on to pursue a career in professional golf, including
playing multiple international tours. During the Asian tour, he fell
in love with the Philippines and chose to stay there and foster the
budding national interest in the game he loved. He established a golf
school and opened the doors for his junior golf students to pursue
golf management through programs in the United States. He was married
to Cally McCullough on July 8, 1995 and moved back to the United
States shortly after the birth of his son, Shawn, in 1998. He ran his
own general contracting business for over 15 years, but always made
time for family and still loved coaching high school golf. He loved
and served his church faithfully as a deacon. Fishing and hunting were
also favorite hobbies of his since childhood, and he and his family
loved the long RV road trips he orchestrated. He loved his family with
all his heart and was a faithful friend, husband, and father till his
last day. Above all, John was a man of faith. He loved his God and
Savior, Jesus Christ, and built his life, character, and legacy in
Jesus's name. He went to be with that Savior forever on August 29,
2024. He went home peacefully as his family sang songs of God's grace
to him.
He is survived by his wife; Cally and his four children; Shawn and his
wife Cailin, Drew, Annika, and Tristan and his grandchildren; Callum
and Sya. They will miss him dearly, but know that they will see him
again and worship God together when Christ returns. "Trust in the Lord
with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all
your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6.
