John Albert Nalley's Obituary
John Albert Nalley, age 69, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on March 17, 2023 in Hagerstown, MD.
John was born in Riverdale, MD to John Rawlins Nalley and Dorothy Louise Nalley on November 30, 1953. He graduated from Colonel Richardson in 1971. He married Mischelle Liddell on December 31, 1977 in Federalsburg, MD. He graduated from Chesapeake College with an associate degree in business administration and Salisbury University with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. He then furthered his education at Bethany Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master's degree in Theology. He served as a Pastor for the Church of the Brethren for 12 years and transferred to the Methodist Church on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he served for 9 years. John retired early from ministry due to complications with Parkinson's Disease. Prior to retirement, John's ministry reached far into the communities where he served with creating community programs, after school programs, Child Abuse Seminars that continue after he left. His Master's thesis, "Adult Children of Alcoholics; Support Systems in the Church" was published and used as a research tool by theological students. His passions were oil painting, trains, gardening, carpentry, and singing. He loved his family and rejoiced in each celebration, each family gathering. He like, his parents, welcomed everyone as family. John is most remembered for being kind, compassionate, and witty, with a boisterous laugh.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Nalley.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mischelle Nalley; his three children, David Nalley, Cathy DiPasquale and her husband, Brian DiPasquale, and Virginia Nalley; his brother Michael Nalley; his sister Charlene Cabrera and her husband Junior Cabrera; and his grandchildren, Ava, Bella, and Brian DiPasquale.
Visitation will be 6-8pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A., 216 N Main St, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Friday March 24, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 607 Main St, Sharptown, MD 21861. Burial will follow at Cokesbury Cemetery, Rhodesdale, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John Nalley's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's disease research.
