Kathaleen Steenken's Obituary
Kathaleen Motter Steenken passed away with her daughters at home in Harmony, MD on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She was 78 years old and under the care of hospice.
Born in the State of Delaware, Kathaleen was the daughter of the late Clark and Mildred (Dill) Motter. In March of 1964 she married J. Ronnie Steenken. They made their home on what would be known as Fowling Creek Farms, and it was there that they raised their two daughters Rhonda and April. Ronnie passed away in 2022. They were married for 53 years.
Besides helping to run and operate the farm, Kathaleen went to work at Peoples Bank first as a receptionist. She remained with Peoples Bank which later became Mercantile and eventually PNC for 35 years, and she worked her way up to being Vice President of Human Resources. Aside from her busy work life, Kathaleen was involved with the Caroline County Farm Bureau.
She enjoyed reading, doing word searches, listening to country music and the peaceful wildlife. She was especially proud of the accomplishments of her girls and grandchildren. For a time she even made straw hats as a hobby. She was a long time life member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Kathaleen is survived by her daughters, Rhonda McLaughlin (Michael) of Harmony, MD and April Hauf (Cory) also of Harmony, MD; and her grandchildren, James "Patrick" Walls, Cody Hauf (Marissa McKinney), Christopher McLaughlin and Tanner Hauf.
She was preceded death by her parents, Clark and Mildred; her husband Ronnie; and her brothers and sister, Clyde Motter, Frank Motter and Helen Deacon.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 5pm until 7pm at Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales in Federalsburg, MD. A funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 starting at 11am at Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales in Federalsburg, MD with a second visitation one hour prior to service time. Pastor David Griffin will officiate. Burial will take place in the family lot at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston, MD.
Memorial donations in Kathaleen's honor may be made to Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr., Centreville, MD 21617.
