I never lived in Federalsburg, but my father's (Jim Currey) entire family did. We used to go visit frequently on weekends and as a kid, I used to visit in the summers for weeks at a time. One of the highlights of those visits was spending time with my cousin Diane. We are very close in age and were close as kids, almost like sisters. Aunt Mary Ellen was one of my favorite aunt's. As an adult, I am sad to say I didn't visit my Federalsburg family very often, but when I did, Aunt Mary Ellen was the first one I'd go see. With so many of our family gone, it was always comforting to know that Aunt Mary Ellen was still there, in the same home and still just as welcoming and loving as when I was a kid.. I will miss knowing she was there anytime I could visit. She was like a beacon for me. I will surely miss her. All my love to Diane and her family.
I had the honor of working with Mary Ellen for many years at Maryland Plastics. You could search forever and never find a more dependable, caring, and loyal employee. She set an example for all with her efficiency and dedication. You could set your watch by her arrival every morning. Never late, always on time...and always arriving with a positive attitude. A true role model for all women in business; she dressed impeccably and modestly, never uttered a negative comment about anyone, and never complained about her work or her workload. We should all aspire to be like Mary Ellen Currey!
Ms. Mary Ellen and Mr. Oscar were great family friends to my parents and part of the Village where I grew up. Although I know her presence will be so heartfully missed here on earth, I find peace in the thought of those waiting at the pearly gates to welcome her home. Many prayers to the family. Rest in Paradise Ms. Mary Ellen. ❤️
