Mary Elaine Mielke's Obituary
Mary Elaine Mielke, passed away on July 17, 2022 at the age of 71 after a long illness.
She was born in Easton, MD on July 16, 1951, the daughter of the late Herman F. Mielke and Dorothy Williams Mielke.
Elaine graduated with the class of 1969 from Easton High School. She continued her education at the University of Maryland, University of Paris and graduated with honors from the University of Santa Clara, majoring in Political Science. She graduated in 1976 from the University Of Santa Clara School Of Law. After practicing law in California, Elaine moved to Washington, D.C. in 1980, serving as General Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee.
Before returning to the Eastern Shore to be with her family, she called Washington, D.C. and Chevy Chase, MD her home, where she had many friends, especially those in the "Book Club". Elaine treasured her friends and considered them family.
She leaves behind her brothers; Allan Mielke (Ellen), and Robert Mielke (Mandy); as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, goddaughters and her dear friend Suzanne Daughters.
A graveside service will be held at New Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD; on Friday August 12, 2022 at 11:00AM
In lieu of flowers, the family asks gifts be made in her memory to Compass Regional Hospice, Centreville, MD; who took incredible care of her at the end or to the Herman and Dorothy Mielke Scholarship Fund at Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, MD.
