Roger Harris' Obituary
Roger Edwards Harris, 81 a resident at Bayleigh Chase in Easton, Maryland passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
Born on April 11, 1936 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Albert E. Harris, Jr., and Alice Jones Harris. He was a 1954 Graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School where he formed many strong friendships. Yearly, he and his classmates met at various restaurants in the DC area for lunch. He retired as a manager from the AT&T Corporate Headquarters in Vienna, VA, and was a life long member of the volunteer organization, Pioneers of America. He was a motorcycle, car, and boat enthusiast. During the summer months, he could often be found riding his Harley-Davidson or boating on the Chesapeake Bay with his long time companion, Dee Alexander, who passed away in 2005.
He is survived by his brother Paul (Peggy) Harris of Rockville, Maryland and their family; by his four children from the marriage to his first wife, Jo Ann Sheppard; his son Michael Harris of Charleston, SC and his three daughters Jeannie Swann of North Charleston, SC, Vicki (Lloyd) Moroughan of Hurlock, Maryland, and Lori (Tom) Simpson of Chester, SC; his stepchildren Timothy Noel and Billie Dunbar; Dee’s children, Toni Alexander, Tim Alexander and Dee Dee Kennedy, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
The family offers a special thanks to the staff at Bayleigh Chase in Easton, MD for their support and loving care.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Brookmont Church, 4000 Virginia Place, Bethesda, MD 20816. The family invited you to join them for light refreshments in the church social hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger's honor to a charity of one's choice.
