Smitty was one of the coolest and calmest people I have had the pleasure of knowing. A few years separated us in age, but he was a really great guy, and deputy. I was with Easton P.D. for 21 yrs, and that took in part of the time he was in law enforcement when Tom Merridith was sheriff. He will be missed and my condolences to his family. I did not know them, but Russell Smith, Jr is someone they can be very proud of. May you Rest In Peace my Friend.
Aunt Jean & my Cousins. Know that Uncle Jr. was loved by His nephew Stephen & Family. Some of my fondest memories are of times spent "camping out" in your then unfinished attic, eating meals at my Grandparents & of course....listening to Dad & Jr.'s war stories. Both were, and always will be my hero's. Aunt Jean...if you need ANYTHING call me. Know you are loved by all our Family and "Slug" will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Uncle Jr. I always looked up to you since I was a small child so much that I followed in your footsteps and have served under 5 sheriffs in Virginia. I still remember the many stories you told us about growing up in Talbot County, WWII, Police work and your brother our Grandfather.
Hi Butch, this is your old friend Glenn from back in the Tastee Freeze days. I Didn't know your dad that well, but feel a connection because you were such a good friend. I remember him from the times I would visit you and we would hang out in your bedroom. He was always such a nice man as I remember. Thinking and praying for you and your family at this time of your loss. I also used to visit your grandfathers store in Bethlehem many times as we lived right next door to him.
