Samuel Albert Smith of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his home in Federalsburg. He was 82. He was born on September 29, 1942 the son of the late Mace and Ella Jewell (Fairbank) Smith. After High School, h Read Obituary
Sam and I served together in the Army, writing for the Fort Jackson newspaper, The Leader. Sam was a man of extensive talents and interests, and a great wit. He was a good friend, and I reestablished contact with him only months before his passing. I regret not being able to visit him in Federalsburg before he died. I learned a lot from Sam, and I will miss his spirit and unique personality. Love ya, Wizard, wherever you are now. Photo is from our days at Fort Jackson, 1968.
I work at Food lion in federsburg he was a ki d person always pleasant to say Hello and to thank him for shopping today. I will miss him.
So sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. He was a good friend and was the main catalyst that encouraged me to get my librarian degree. I have many fond memories of the times we spent working together. He will be missed. Rest in peace Sam.
Sam was always pleasant to talk to and I will miss seeing him around town. He was a great librarian and would sometimes recommend a book he thought I would enjoy. So sorry to hear he has passed. We plan to make a donation to the CCPL Federalsburg branch in his memory.
