Sara was a close friend in high school. We shared a lot and learned much from each other. Sara was beautiful, smart, and caring. She introduced me (and many others I am sure) to reflections on life's deeper meanings. Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet was one of her favorite books in those days.
Our paths diverged when we graduated from THS, and my contact with Sara was infrequent. I knew that she had to deal with a number of challenges, but she remained positive. Among her many accomplishments, Sara earned a PhD, she wrote books, and she was a devoted caregiver to Robbin. The deeper meanings that she sought in high school lead to a life of deep faith, love, kindness, compassion, and service to others. Sara's life mattered.
Looking back, I consider myself fortunate to have had such a wonderful friend in high school; and fortunate to see, at some distance, how she wove her talent and passion into a meaningful life.
Well done Sara! RIP.
