Tom was one of the first business owners I met after my wife (Pam) and I purchased Calico Gallery & Toys in 2001 - just a few shops away from the St. Michaels Candy & Gift shop. Tom could always tell me what kind of tourist traffic to expect on any day of the year, and under whatever weather condition. Tom also introduced me to the Friday "Board" meeting at Carpenter Street Saloon back in 2001. Tom was a kind and giving person, and was always the first person to ask when next year's Midnight Madness would be. Tom will always be a friend.

I first met Mr. Tom while working for UPS, and I took over the St. Michaels route. Of all of the places that Ive delivered to, not only in St. Michaels but everywhere else, Mr. Tom was probably the nicest man I ever came in contact with. It was a true pleasure seeing him everyday. He always had this grin on his face whenever I went into the shop to make my deliveries in the morning. And still had it on his face in the afternoon when I went back to pickup packages he was shipping out that day. He and I would trade some "man talk" whenever Miss Pat or the girls there weren't around...lol. I think he looked forward to me coming in there just to see if he could say something to shock me. I really looked forward to seeing him everyday, and I will truely miss him. He was a great friend and really one of a kind.

I met Tom when he and Pat opened the candy store on the 'other side of Talbot Street" His smiles were infectious and he always said hello, whether we were visiting the shop or passing each other on sidewalks of main street. He was also very friendly with my three sons-Brandon, Corey and Nicholas. Over the years Tom took an interest in their daily activities. And of course there was always a 'candy treat' each time my sons visited the shop! I will never forget the support I received when Nick joined the Marines, especially when Nick went to Afghanistan (two tours)! Every time I visited the shop Tom would ask after Nick. Then he would always ask how I was doing as the mom of a deployed Marine. Tom's thoughtfulness went a long way to help me through those worrisome times. I will miss you, Tom. Be at peace and save me a spot on the riverbank in heaven! I know that's where you are, watching us all....jlh
