Wanda Lee Ewing's Obituary
Wanda Lee Ewing passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at her home in Federalsburg surrounded by her family. She was 96 years young. She was born on August 31, 1926 in Chase City, VA; the daughter of the late John Crichton Lewter and Ruth Ray Lewter. She earned her Master's degree in Music and Education from James Madison College.
After coming to Federalsburg to teach, she married George Roger Ewing, he preceded her in death in 1978. She worked for the Caroline County Board of Education, finally retiring in 1992. She was a lifelong member of Union United Methodist church in Federalsburg where she served as choir director for 45 years. She was also a member of the Easton Choral Arts Society for many years.
In her free time, she enjoyed singing, traveling, antiquing, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Ronda Janda (Jerry) of Tilghman, Maryland; and two sons: Scott Ewing (Vickie) of Hendersonville, NC; and Todd Ewing (Susan) of Southhold, NY. Grandchildren Carlie Crouch (Ryan), Jennifer Bridges (Marc), Jerry Janda (Lori), Eric and Lincoln Ewing, Robert and Andrew Ewing. Great-grandchildren Bethany, Carter, Will, Julie, Mason, Haven and Hayden as well as a niece, Suzie Ewing and nephews Greg Ewing and Joseph Janda. She also leaves behind her constant companion, her cat Pansy.
The family would like to thank her wonderful care providers: Cindy Redmond, Kim Adams, Lois Ann Pinder, Dolly Taylor, Debie Adams, Shellie Lord and Ty.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1:00 at Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg with the Reverend Dan Gedman officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the start of the service. Masks are optional.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Easton Choral Arts Society or to Union United Methodist Chuch in Federalsburg, MD.
