William Preston Jones' Obituary
William Preston (Will) Jones of Neavitt, MD died May 21, 2024 following an accident. He was born on January 1, 2004, in Easton, MD to parents Charles (Buck) Jones and Sarah Elizabeth Jones. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind to grieve his loving older siblings: his brother, Hunter J. Jones, and sister, Catherine E. Jones. He also leaves behind his grandparents Gus Jones (Bozman, MD), Bonnie and Ray Higgins (Neavitt, MD), and Betty Stoutamyer (Herndon, VA). He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Julian Stoutamyer. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, innumerable friends, and several close, dear friends who were his second family.
From the time he could walk, Will liked to be active and on the move. As a child, he loved playing baseball and soccer with his St. Michaels friends. School was mainly a venue to socialize with and entertain his friends (and sometimes his teachers too). He had an incredibly strong work ethic and was very proud of Broad Creek Land Management, his lawncare and landscaping business that he operated after his graduation from St. Michaels High School in 2022. He was also a licensed waterman and worked on the water in winter. While Will always struggled to wake up for school, getting up at 4:00 a.m. to work was never a problem. Will was one of the most goal-oriented and motivated people you have ever met. Once Will made up his mind, he made it happen.
Will was a charmer and had a kind heart. He had a smile and blue eyes that could light up a room. His quick wit and funny comebacks kept us all laughing and no matter how far-fetched a plan was that he proposed, he could talk us into doing just about anything because he was so persuasive and endearing. He was always happiest in the company of his friends: their regular Sunday morning breakfasts, boat dockings or Sunday Fundays on a boat, volleyball parties, watching football and hunting together, helping each other out with their businesses, and traveling far and wide on the lower shore. He was a true Eastern Shore Boy.
A visitation is planned for 10:00 a.m. on June 1, 2024, at the Easton Church of God on N. Washington Street with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
